St Andrew's Challenge

Welland Hydro-Electric System Corp. and the City of Welland teamed up this month to make St. Andrew Elementary School in Welland a little greener.

The eco-team at St. Andrew’s requested that trees be planted around their school yard as a result of an energy conservation challenge in March. Trees were selected because of the many environmental benefits they provide and to create shaded areas where students can go to find relief from the heat when outdoors. Welland Hydro-Electric System Corp. purchased the three large maple trees and the City of Welland generously delivered and planted them.
